I was recently able to interview a dear friend of ours- Steve Ladd. Steve is well known in the southern gospel world as he spent his time with groups such as the Anchormen and Gold City before starting his solo ministry several years ago. Starting last year he also sings part time with The Old Paths.
Steve's heart for the Lord comes though when he sings, and in my humble opinion he is one of the best tenors out there today. So, without further ado- my interview with Steve Ladd!
Mercy: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Steve: Sure! I was born in Dayton, OH and was brought up an evangelist’s son. My siblings and I traveled with my dad at his revivals. It was a family thing.
Mercy: When did you get saved?
Steve: I was saved at an early age at a church service when my dad pastored. I later rededicated when I was a teenager.
Mercy: What is something most people don't know about you?
Steve: Most people don’t know I can play a few different instruments. Never mastered any...but get by.
Mercy: What started your interest in singing southern gospel music?
Steve: We loved listening to Southern Gospel Music as a family traveling around. I guess I would credit my parents because they always had it on while I was growing up. We read the Singing News magazine and had our favorite groups we would listen to.
Mercy: Do you have any hobbies? If so what?
Steve: I love to fish! Relaxing!
Mercy: What is your favorite Bible verse?
|Steve and his wife Dayna|
Mercy: What do you like and dislike most about being on the road?
Steve: I love doing what I feel I was made for...singing to people about my Lord! I hate the miles and time away from my family and Home.
Mercy: What is your favorite and least favorite food?
Steve: My favorite food is eggplant Parmesan and my least favorite is pot roast.
Mercy: What is your favorite song to sing?
Steve: As of now it would be "What You’ve Already Done" from my latest EP.
Mercy: Where do you call home?
Steve: We moved back to Alabama 3 years ago. We live outside of Centre, AL now.
Mercy: Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
Steve: I’d just like for people to know that NO matter what they are going through...Jesus loves them and that NO matter what you do...even ministers need to hear that. I know I do.
Steve, thank you so much for doing this! Readers, make sure to check out Steve's social media. You can find him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And make sure to check out his schedule on his website.
Thanks for reading!
